Abu Zeid: Water shortages could be worst problem of 21st century

Egyptian Minister of Public Works and Water Resources Mahmoud Abu Zeid said at the that International Arab Conference on the Future of Water that water shortages could threaten Arab social and economic development.
"The problem of the rarity and shortage of water will be the most serious problem that will ever face the Arab world in the forthcoming century," Abu Zeid said, adding that the problems could worsen if water is not used to increase agricultural production to enhance regional food supplies.
