George Washington University signs cooperation accord with Al-Akhawyane University of Morocco

The U.S. George Washington University announced on Tuesday it had signed a new partnership accord with the Moroccan Anglo-Saxon university of Al-Akhawyane based in Ifrane (Morocco's Atlas Mountains).
The $2 million accord provides for the consolidation of academic research between the two universities, the exchange of students, teachers and the launching of joint programs dealing with various disciplines, a statement released by the university said.
Under the accord, George Washington University pledged to increase scholarships to Moroccan students and give great importance to programs enhancing understanding between the Moroccan and American peoples.
The accord was initialed last spring during the first visit Hillary Rodham Clinton paid to Morocco, the statement said, recalling that during Mrs Clinton's second trip to Morocco last June, the US first lady was awarded a honorary masters degree by Al-Akhawyane University.
