King Abdullah confers with Syrian premier

King Abdullah II on Tuesday in Amman received Syrian Prime Minister Mahmoud al-Zou'bi. The meeting was attended by the Jordanian premier, the Syrian deputy premier for economic affairs and the chairman of the Jordanian royal court, Abdul Karim al-Kabareiti.

King Abdullah said his country works to achieve economic integration with the Arab states, expressing Jordan's readiness to support joint Arab cooperation.

Al-Zou'bi conveyed Syrian President Hafez al-Assad's greetings to King Abdullah II and the king asked for similar greetings to be conveyed to President al-Assad. Talks during the meeting dealt with results of the meetings of the joint Syrian - Jordanian higher committee and matters of mutual concern.

Later in the day, al-Zou'bi and members of the accompanying delegation returned home to Damascus following a two-day visit to Jordan.
