10 Algerian soldiers killed
Algeria, Local, 8/3/1999
Violent actions have escalated in Algeria, targeting security forces at a time when Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika is getting ready to organize a people's referendum on September 16 on the civil reconciliation law.
An Algerian security source said today that 10 Algerian soldiers were killed and five injured in an ambush planned by terrorist elements in eastern Algeria.
The source stated that the terrorists exploded yesterday a bomb that was planted on the side of the road near Ein Tota village, east of Algiers, where the terrorists launched an attack in revenge for the killing of 26 extremists in a military action in the same region two months ago.
