Bouteflika: Algeria seeks foreign investments
Algeria, Politics, 8/3/1999

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika said that his country seeks foreign investments to regain all it lost due to the bloodshed that lasted for the past seven years.

Meanwhile, Bouteflika urged the Algerians to say yes to the referendum to be held on the coming month to end the struggle with the Islamic extremists. "Let us not this chance slip away. Each voice has its impact and its significance. Rendezvous thus en masse in the ballots to say, in all sovereignty, yes to peace, yes to economic growth, yes to a strong and dignified Algeria," he said.

He also said that his country does not possess enough financial potential to confront social issues such as poverty and unemployment, and that foreign investments will not be obtained unless security and peace are restored in Algeria.
