Investigating the Sudanese government for using chemical weapons
Sudan, Politics, 7/31/1999

International rescue organizations are investigating what Sudanese opposition sources said about government forces using chemical and biological weapons against civilians in rebel-held areas of the south.

In a statement released from Kenya yesterday, the Sudanese People's Liberation Army (SPLA) said that on July 23, an aircraft flying at high altitude dropped 22 bombs on two towns in Western Equatoria province, Kimba and Kaia, which serve as relief centers.

The statement added that one day after the bombings of these two towns, children, women and men started to vomit blood.

The Sudanese government held meetings with the SPLA at last and failed to reach a solution to the crisis.
