Syria urges EU to push forward peace process
Syria-European Union, Politics, 7/29/1999
Syria called on the European Union (EU) Wednesday to play an active role in the Mideast peace process, stalled for over three years.
Syrian News Agency, SANA, quoted Parliament Speaker Abdul Qader Qaddourh as saying, "The European Union can play a role in pushing forward the peace process."
At a meeting with a delegation of the European Parliament representing the Christian-Democrats and conservatives, Qaddoura reiterated Syria's commitment to the land-for-peace principle and the 1991 Madrid peace conference.
