Foreign investment soars in past 6 months

The foreign investment attracted by Morocco during the past 6 months increased by 49.6% to $226 million against $150 million recorded during the same period last year.
The Moroccan Exchange Office, which reported the figures in its latest newsbulletin, says the remittances of Moroccan emigrants also progressed by 1.3% during the past six months to $684 million compared $675 million.
Finance milieus expect the emigrants' remittances to reach this year $2 billion or 2.4% compared with the figures posted in 1998.
The Moroccan community living abroad is estimated at about two million souls.
