Morocco, Economics, 7/29/1999

Moroccan Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi called on Wednesday all hotels to ensure the best stay conditions for foreign tourists visiting the kingdom.

In a communique made public on Wednesday, the Moroccan premier urged the hotel trade to provide all necessary services to tourists who flock to the kingdom for their summer holidays.

The Moroccan premier made the call six days after the demise of King Hassan II. Socioeconomic activities and administrative services also resumed throughout the Kingdom.

In 1998, nearly two million foreign tourists visited Morocco earning the country around $1.6 billion, representing a 20% increase compared to the returns posted in 1997.

The tourism sector in Morocco offers around 600,000 direct or indirect jobs.
