Reactions to Barak, Bouteflika meeting continue
Algeria-Israel, Politics, 7/29/1999
For the third consecutive day, the widespread reactions on the meeting of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on the margins of King Hassan II's funeral continued yesterday.
The Islamic Renaissance Movement asserted the importance of achieving normalization with Israel by restoring the usurped lands and rights of the people of the region.
Meanwhile, Louiza Hanoun, leader of Labor Party, said the relations of Algeria with Israel should be improved through developments in the peace process.
Bouteflika has decisively opposed the idea of normalizing relations with Israel and said that the meeting with Barak cannot be a start for normalization, saying it was a coincidence.
