Taha Yassin Ramadan: No international decision without lifting sanctions
Iraq, Politics, 7/29/1999

Iraqi Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Taha Yassin Ramadan stated that his country opposes any decisions of the UN Security Council that will not include uplifting the economic sanctions.

In his address to the conference of the Arab People's Summit, which is currently being held in Baghdad, Ramadan said that Baghdad has carried out all international commitments, so the Security Council should carry out its commitments towards Iraq.

He said that what is currently taking place in the Security Council concerning Iraq is just circulation of draft resolutions aimed at imposing trusteeship on Iraq and breaching the resolution issued by the Security Council itself.

Taha, moreover, denounced his countries refusal to the 2 no fly zone at north and south Iraq because they are unjustified.

Ramadan also said the Iraqi opposition conference planned by London and Washington, and its recruitment of the clients aiming to topple the Iraqi government can never shake the stability of Iraq.
