Syrian newspaper criticizes campaign showing Syria as ruining peace
Syria, Politics, 7/28/1999

A Syrian newspaper strongly criticized a mass campaign that presents Syria as responsible for missing the chance for peace, blocking peace efforts and not achieving the desired progress along different negotiating tracks.

Tishreen newspaper said yesterday that insisting upon asking Damascus not to miss peace chances and seeking to clarify its stand, is unfair, trying to lay the responsibility for any problems in the coming negotiations on the shoulders of Syria.

The newspaper said that those who really want peace don't need time limitations but express their desire directly through immediate action to establish a firm basis for a just and comprehensive settlement.

El-Thawra newspaper said that the world knows the party who obstructs peace and that Syria is above all suspicions, adding that Syria demands peace only.
