Morocco, Politics, 7/27/1999
Several festivities and events were canceled in Morocco as 40 days of mourning were decreed following the demise of late King Hassan II last Friday.
A statement of the prime minister's office states that in conformity with a 40-day mourning decreed on July 23 by the Ministry of the Royal Household, Chancellery and Protocol, flags will fly at half-mast in all Moroccan administrations, embassies and consulates and all ceremonies will be canceled in respect for the late king.
The prime minister's office calls all citizens to carry on their economic and administrative activities normally, starting on Monday July 26, 1999.
