Sea passenger line between Iraq and Bahrain
Iraq-Bahrain, Economics, 7/27/1999

A high-ranking official at the Iraqi Ministry of Transport and Communications said on Monday in Baghdad that a sea line will be shortly opened to transport passengers between Iraq and Bahrain.

Jamil Ibrahim, the secretary at the Iraqi Ministry of Transport and Communication said the ship Jabal Ali is expected to run shortly to Bahrain in its first trip since 1990.

The Iraqi official added that specialized sides at the Iraqi Transport Ministry had agreed with the Dubai Port Authority to reactivate the navigation line between Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

Ibrahim continued that that authorities in Dubai have inaugurated a modern hall in Rashed port and other utilities for receiving passengers and providing them with the best facilities.

The UN last year agreed to the opening of a sea line to transport passengers between Iraq and the UAE.
