Barak to meet with Arafat, Mubarak
Regional-Israel, Politics, 7/27/1999
Sources at the Israeli prime minister's office have asserted that Ehud Barak is making moves in preparation for his meeting today with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat at Erez barrier, near the Gaza Strip.
The meeting will be followed by a press conference.
Israel Radio quoted the sources as saying that Barak will brief Arafat on the results of his meeting with US President Bill Clinton in Rabat on ways of implementing the Wye Plantation agreement as well as to debate the questions of "fighting terrorism," withdrawal from the West Bank, Palestinian political prisoners and other related issues.
The sources also indicated that Barak will meet on Thursday morning with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Alexandria and will brief him on the results of his meeting with President Clinton and high-ranking US officials in Rabat.
The sources continued that Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy will accompany Barak on his visit to Egypt and that Levy will visit Amman next week, but no date was fixed for that visit.
