Egyptian, German companies for upgrading Hurgada airport

The Egyptian company of Arab Contractors has endorsed an agreement with the German company ABB to carry out the new projects of Hurgada International Airport, with a value of $100 million, according to the bid raised by the Egyptian Civil Aviation Department between Egyptian and foreign investors on the B.O.T (build-operate-transfer) system.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the board of directors of Arab Contractors, Ismael Othman, told ArabicNews.com that it has been decided to finish the expansion in 2001, to increase the international trips to face the increase expected in international tourism coming to Hurgada and its neighboring regions.
These expansions aim at increasing capacity to 10,000 passengers per hour, up from the current rate of 1,500 passengers per hour.
