Sudanese FM: Khartoum insists on restoring good relations with Egypt
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 7/26/1999
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael confirmed his country's insistence on restoring good relations with Egypt, saying that they are strategic and should have elements of unity and integration between the two states.
Othman Ismael, who arrived in Kuwait yesterday, said that both Egypt and Sudan are committed to each other, saying that the current circumstances through which Sudan is passing need the regional and international support of Egypt to confront intrigues and schemes planned against Sudan.
The Sudanese minister added that the meeting held between Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir and his Egyptian counterpart, President Mubarak, in Algeria during the Organization of African Unity summit conference has nearly specified the outlines of the relations between the two countries and the direction to improve these relations.
The Sudanese foreign minister arrived in Kuwait yesterday for a three-day visit, during which he is going to deliver a communique from President Omar El-Bashir to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jaber al-Sabah.
