Jordanian journalist arrested in Amman

The AFP in Amman reported that journalists from the independent Jordanian daily al-Masa'eyah told it that Jordanian security forces have arrested one of the newspaper's editors, Senan Shaqdeh, for no clear reason.
The agency reported that one female relative for Shaqdeh who asked not to be identified said an intelligence force came into his house in Amman early on Sunday and that he permitted them to inspect his house, at their request and then took him with them and that he is still held in custody.
She added that according to reports leaked by Shaqdeh's colleagues, he had been investigated concerning his relations with foreign sides from which he derives information he includes in his articles.
Shaqdeh, who has held the post of editor at the newspaper, also works as the Palestinian affairs editor at the United Arab Emirates daily al-Itihad.
