Iran welcomes Turkey's decision on recent border events
Iran-Turkey, Politics, 7/26/1999

Iran has welcomed the decision taken by the Turkish government to delegate a technical delegation to Iran to study the recent border incidents.

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hamid Rida Asefi, said in a statement that Iran proposed following the attack launched by several Turkish warplanes against the Iranian territories that a joint delegation from the two countries inspect the site which was exposed to the bombardment in order to study and evaluate the volume of losses resulting from the attack.

Asafi expressed his hope that this positive measure by the Turkish side would help in eliminating the current misunderstanding.

The Turkish delegation will arrive in Aroumeyah, the center of the western province of Azerbaijan on Wednesday in order to head for the site of the attack in the company of the Iranian delegation and will continue its investigation concerning losses resulting from the Turkish aggression.
