Morocco gets ecologic buses
Morocco, Environment, 7/23/1999
The Moroccan state-owned bus company of Rabat received this week the first batch of buses operating with the environment-friendly Liquified Gas Petroleum (LGP) fuel.
The move is part of the company's efforts to lower harmful gas emissions responsible for several lung and skin diseases.
The engines fueled with LGP are noiseless and generate no toxic or polluting emissions such as sulfur, lead, benzene and others.
The LGP, which leaves no carbon deposits, ensures a long life to engines and contributes hence to the building of a healthy atmosphere.
The Moroccan public transports company needs the approval of the competent authorities before it operates the LGP-buses. Moroccan cabs will also be fitted with the ecological engines.
Morocco, which signed lately the international convention limiting CFC emissions responsible for global warming, has passed a law to reduce vehicles gas emissions.
