Sugar-beet seeds developed by Morocco will be marketed in 2002

The sugar-beet seeds developed by Morocco will be launched in the local market by year 2002.
The Moroccan Exchange Office, which reported the news in its latest report, said the seeds were developed within the frame of a national program launched in 1997 to enable the Kingdom meet its needs in sugar-beet seeds which are imported totally from abroad.
In 1998, Morocco imported around 830 tons of sugar seeds for about $ 6.3 Mln. Morocco's output of sugar beet is expected this year to reach four million tons while that of sugar cane will exceed 21 million tons, expected to meet 65 % of Morocco's sugar needs.
