Breast cancer in morocco on the rise, medical magazine says
Morocco, Health, 7/22/1999
Breast cancer, the first cancer affecting women in Morocco, has a continually increasing prevalence ranging between 1 to 2%, said Moroccan cancer specialized magazine "Onconews."
One of the most killing cancers despite huge progress in diagnosis and treatment modes, breast cancer has a prevalence that is closely linked to the socio-economic level and environment, said the magazine.
The story writers who conducted a study on a group of high-risk families said they found out the presence of two genes associated with a predisposition to develop breast and ovary cancer.
The searchers, however, deplored the shortage of diagnosis methods which would help obtain satisfying long-term results and avoid breast ablation that cause psychologic problems for women.
In this regard, they called on all physicians to automatically undertake mammographies, especially for women who belong to the high-risk category and those who are above 40 years old.
