Demanding saving the life of an Egyptian fundamentalist prisoner
Egypt, Politics, 7/21/1999
The Islamic Informational Observatory in London urged the organizations and fronts concerned with human rights to intervene to save a prisoner serving a prison sentence for assassinating Egyptian President Anwar El-Sadat.
A press statement obtained by ArabicNews.com said that Mohammed El-Maghrebi, who has been serving a life sentence in prison since 1981 is suffering from serious diseases and difficult conditions in Abu Zaebal prison near Cairo.
The observatory called on the Egyptian authorities to allow El-Maghrebi's family and his lawyer to visit him, which El-Maghrebi has not been allowed since 1995.
