Arab nuclear authority to meet in Beirut

The Lebanese capital, Beirut, will host a meeting of the executive council and general conference of the Arab nuclear authority on July 26, an official statement said here Tuesday.
The statement, reproduced by the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA, said participants at the executive council's meeting, due on July 26-30, would discuss the authority's past and future activities, in addition to some financial and administrative issues.
The usage of nuclear technology in improving animal production, desalinating sea waters and the use of nuclear power in industrial purposes will be also tackled by the participants.
They will discuss preparations for the fifth Arab conference of proper usages of nuclear power, due in Beirut next year, and teaching nuclear sciences in Arab universities.
The recommendations of the council will be referred to the general conference, due early August.
The authority groups Jordan, Tunisia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya and Egypt.
