Moroccan Ouaziz eyes 5,000 meters world record

Moroccan Zahra Ouaziz is to run for a new women's 5,000 meters world record at the British Grand Prix at Crystal Palace on August 7, said event organizers Tuesday.
The 29-year-old athlete set four African records last year and finished second at the World Cross Country Championships.Last week, she took a GP event in Nice as she geared up for an assault on the record.
Ouaziz has a personal best of 14 minutes 32.08 seconds and organizers of the Crystal Palace meet said she's in prime condition to break the record of 14:28.09, held by China's Jiang Bo.
The women's 5,000 m record was toppled at Crystal Palace once before, when Zola Budd set the new mark in 1985 by running 14:48. 07.
