Egypt leads in petroleum discoveries among Arab states

Egypt is currently witnessing condensed activity in petroleum discoveries, as OAPEC (the Organization of Arab Petroleum-Exporting Countries) in its annual report released this week said that Egypt is considered the largest active region in discovering petroleum fields and natural gas.
Last year Egypt achieved the highest rate compared with the Arab states, as their total production amounted to 49 discoveries in the energy field last year, 22 of which are in Egypt.
Meanwhile the discoveries of petroleum fields in the Arab states amounted to 33 discoveries, among which Egypt achieved 11 discoveries (33%), followed by Algeria 11%, Libya 6%, Tunis 4% and Kuwait 1%.
Concerning the discovery of natural gas fields totaling 16 discoveries regionally, Egypt accounted for 11 discoveries (68%), occupying the first position, followed by Saudi Arabia and Algeria.
