Belgian hostages return to Yemeni capital
Yemen-Belgium, Local, 7/20/1999

Four Belgian hostages returned safely on Monday to the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, after they had been held by Yemeni tribesmen for four days. A Yemeni official said in a statement on Monday that the Belgian tourists, two men and two women, will spend the night in Sanaa before they decide whether they will continue their tour of Yemen.

The four Belgians were kidnapped last Thursday after an ambush was implanted by the tribesmen outside the capital for the cars carrying the Belgians. They were taken to an area 170 km to the north of the capital, Sanaa.
