Sudan, Politics, 7/20/1999
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael has announced that his government will go to the peace talks in Kenya with an open heart and mind in order to end the state of war in southern Sudan.
In an interview with the BBC on Monday, the Sudanese minister added that the indirect contacts carried out between the Sudanese government and the opposition in southern Sudan helped bridge the gaps between the two sides, as did the efforts made by certain countries in order to achieve reconciliation and end the state of war.
The Sudanese minister also indicated Arab and international calls recently raised to alleviate the suffering of the citizens in southern Sudan and to achieve reconciliation.
