Six people killed in road accident
Morocco, Politics, 7/19/1999
Six people were killed in a recent road accident near the atlas mountain town of Azilal, central Morocco, the Moroccan press reported.
Twenty-two other persons were injured when a lorry, carrying several people, goods and livestock, fell in a ravine. Two French tourists are among the wounded.
Road accidents are a real plague in Morocco, killing 3,242 people in 1998. To play down the plague, the Moroccan authorities are staging a three month campaign dubbed "Iron Fist" providing for severe sanctions against highway code offenders.
