Palestinian demonstration to protest lack of water in the West Bank
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 7/19/1999
Hundreds of Fehain El-Dahsha's inhabitants organized yesterday a large demonstration near Bethlehem to protest the lack of water, which has continued for two months.
Eyewitness said the demonstrators closed the main road linking Bethlehem and the Galilee with the southern West Bank and that the demonstrators asked the Palestinian Authority to ensure a continuous supply of water as well as to reduce the price of water transported by tanks.
At the same time, the Palestinian government accused Israel of not ensuring necessary quantities of water according to its commitments in this area.
The Palestinian cities are suffering for the second year in a row from a lack of water.
