Saudi Arabia-Spain, Politics, 7/19/1999
The Saudi News Agency said on Sunday that King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz arrived on Saturday night in Malaga, southern Spain, for a private visit, his first visit abroad in five years. He was welcomed by members of the Saudi royal family and Spanish figures.
Saudi officials said the Saudi King and members of his accompanying delegation arrived in an area where strong security measures were enforced at Malaga airport before they moved to Marbella where the king has property.
The Saudi officials added that two-fully equipped ambulances were transported from Saudi Arabia to Marbia, as well as boxes of his best food.
They expected the king's visit to Spain to last for two weeks. The king enacted a royal decree according to which he assigned Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz to administrate the kingdom's affairs during his visit to Spain.
