Turkish raid against Iran, Tehran says
Turkey-Iran, Military, 7/19/1999

At least one person was killed and others were wounded in a raid launched by Turkish planes on Sunday against the Beranshaher district, of northwest Iran.

The Iranian news agency, IRNA, said that the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hameed Rida Asefi, said the raid is not justified and warned the Turkish authorities against the consequences of resuming violations of Iranian airspace.

For his part, chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, Muhammad Fairouz Abadi, has strongly warned Turkey and stressed that Iran preserves its right to repel the raid of the Turkish planes.
