Jordan, Syria sign dam agreement

Jordanian Minister of Water and Irrigation Kamel Mahadeen has said that an agreement was concluded between Jordan and Syria on all matters connected with setting up al-Wahda dam construction project, which is to be financed by Arab funds.
In a statement granted to the Jordanian daily al-Arab al-Youm on Sunday, the Jordanian minister added that the Jordanian Ministry of Planning has started contacts with the Arab funds.
Mahadeen added that despite the drought, water conditions in Jordan have not reached the level of a crisis as was predicted. He added that new water resources recently began operation to produce about 20 million cubic meters.
