Bouteflika ready to develop relations with Israel if peace established with sides concerned
Algeria, Politics, 7/19/1999

Algerian President Abdul Aziz Bouteflika has announced, in a new stand of its kind, that Algeria is ready to develop its stances concerning Israel but under the condition of reaching peace with all sides concerned.

In an exclusive statement to Monte Carlo radio broadcast on Saturday the Algerian president said, "We develop our stances in parallel with developing conditions." He added that if the Israelis were in the place of the Palestinians, Algeria would have stood with them.

He said that he is watching the development of events patiently, that he will not give up an inch of land in the Golan or south Lebanon and that it is the right of the Palestinians to formulate their own state, a right which has been recognized for all the world's peoples.
