Iranian - Saudi relations also for serving Islamic issues

Iranian President Muhammad Khatami has asserted that Iranian-Saudi relations, in their new phase, are not only serving the interests of the two countries but also those of the region and the Islamic world as well as the world as a whole.

During his meeting with the Saudi ambassador in Tehran on the occasion of the end of the ambassador's term of office in Tehran, President Khatami indicated the care and keenness of the two countries to develop and strengthen bilateral relations in all fields.

He stressed the importance of his recent visit to Saudi Arabia and the constructive and successful talks he held with the Saudi officials.

For his part, the Saudi ambassador expressed his satisfaction over the development of Saudi-Iranian relations.
