Sudanese opposition hails Mubarak - El-Bashir meeting
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 7/17/1999

The Sudanese opposition hailed the meeting between Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir on the margin of the Organization of African Unity summit in last week in Algeria.

Mohammed El-Moetassem Hakem, chairman of the foreign relations committee in the Sudanese Democratic Unionist Party, said in press statements that the front of the Sudanese opposition alliance, which concluded its works yesterday in Cairo, hailed the discussion during the meeting between Mubarak and El-Bashir, especially what Mubarak said regarding the importance of the Sudanese government's credibility and that improving relations is based on action and not only on statements.

Haken described Mubarak's declarations after the meeting as being good proof of his adherence to solving Sudan's problems.
