Israeli television: Barak and Clinton agree on November 2000 to reach comprehensive peace
Regional-Israel, Politics, 7/17/1999
Israeli television said yesterday that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and U.S. President Bill Clinton agreed during their talks on Thursday on determining November 2000 as an ultimate date to reach final peace agreements with Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.
Israel's channel 2 said that Barak informed Clinton that he could reach peace with Syria within a year.
Israeli sources said that Barak told Clinton he would undertake implementation of the agreements signed between Israel and the Arab states and that the Israel forces' withdrawal from south Lebanon will not take place except in the framework of a comprehensive peace agreement with Syria.
