UNIFIL investigates Israeli theft of Lebanese soil, attacks continue
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 7/16/1999

Israel continued its attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon, while the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army militia entered six villages in south Lebanon and arrested several men and women under the pretext of investigating them.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces continued to steal fertile Lebanese soil and transport it to settlements in northern Israel. New reports from the occupied part of south Lebanon said that Israeli bulldozers are working in a valley between al-Khiam and Eable al-Saqqi in loosening the soil and transporting it to inside Israel.

The news reports added that UNIFIL's leadership has sent a team to investigate Israel's theft of the Lebanese soils.

Elswhere, Lebanese security sources said that Israeli heavy artillery bombarded on Thursday morning the outskirts of Majdal Soloum, al-Sawanneh, al-Jemejmieh, al-Qeseyeh valley, Barachit, Tabnin, Eita al-Jabal, Hadatha and Jabal al-Zaatar towns.

The Israeli occupation forces reinforced their positions in the occupied parts of south Lebanon, while several SLA members refused to join the front lines.

Israeli warplanes and helicopters on Thursday flew in the airspace of south Lebanon, especially in the skies of al-Nabateyah, and al-Tuffah districts, carrying out mock raids.
