Britain and peace between Syria and Israel

The official responsible for the Middle East in the British government, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Hoon, said that all signals released by the leaders of the countries concerned with the Middle East peace process were positive and have assured the restoration of the peace process into its right track.

In a statement to Orient Radio's correspondent in London broadcast on Wednesday, Hoon added that the statements attributed to Syrian President Hafez al-Assad in this respect were the focus of welcome by international circles, especially as these statements came to complete stances expressed by Syria before in which it explained that it is ready to reach a peace agreement with Israel but under the condition of resuming negotiations from the point at which they broke off before.
