United Nations experts start work today in Iraq
Iraq, Politics, 7/15/1999
A team of United Nations experts started today to open an United Nations laboratory authorized to disarm the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, which Baghdad said contains explosive materials.
Prakash Shah, the special representative of the United Nations secretary general, said that the international team will remove quantities of toxic mustard gas from the laboratory that were left by the UNSCOM inspectors when they left Baghdad in December.
Meanwhile, Bahrain asked the UN to close the base established on its territories to receive members of UNSCOM.
