Moussa: Egypt will not oppose Libya's suggestion convening exceptional African summit
Egypt-Libya-Africa, Politics, 7/14/1999
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said Egypt will not stand against Libya if it wants to convene an exceptional African summit in September to deal with adjusting the charter of the Organization of African Unity.
He said, "Good preparation must be made for this summit and it must have general consent."
He said that adjusting the charter is not a new idea, and there has been a committee formed for 20 years for this purpose, but it has not yielded a result.
He added that Libyan Leader Colonel Moammar Gaddafi speaks about African unity, then he wants to adjust the charter to allow achievement of this unity.
