Iraq-UN, Politics, 7/14/1999

Saedoum Hammad, chairman of the Iraqi National Council, objected to the cooperation style of the United Nations Security Council with Iraq's cause and described the decision to impose sanctions on his country since 1990 as being a tool for the collective termination of Iraq's people.

An international team of disarmament experts arrived in Jordan before heading to Iraq to remove samples of a toxic materials from a deserted laboratory for the U.N. in Baghdad.

The team includes four chemical experts escorted by the former charge d' affairs of the committee's manager of U.N in Baghdad, Jackowili Talo, according to an agreement between the Iraqi deputy prime minister and Prakash Shah, the special delegate of the United Nation's secretary general.

The team will destroy samples of the toxic gas in addition to regular chemicals stored there.
