Jordan preparing to establish water basin
Jordan, Politics, 7/14/1999
A high-ranking Jordanian official said that the Jordanian government received a study prepared by the World Bank regarding establishing the project of Dessa Basin in southern Amman to ease the water crisis from which the capital suffers and that the study estimated the project's cost at nearly $730 million.
The funds will be provided by the government through an international bid in which loans are used, and this project will be the first of its kind for the Jordanian government.
The project's ownership will be conveyed to the private sector in the Jordanian government's plan for privatization.
