The new Kuwaiti government

Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah on Tuesday enacted an "emiri decree" calling for forming a new Kuwaiti government, chaired by Crown Prince Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah al-Sabah.

The new Kuwaiti government is composed of Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad as the first deputy premier and foreign minister; Sheikh Salem Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah as deputy premier and defense minister; Muhammad Deif Allah as deputy premier and minister of state for Cabinet affairs; Sheikh Abdullah al-Ahmad al-Sabah as minister of finance and communications; Saad Muhammad Bin Teflah al-Ajami as minister of information; Saad Jasem Youssef al-Hashel as minister of justice; Sheikh Saud Nasser al-Saud al-Sabah as minister of state for foreign affairs; Adel al-Sabeih as minister of electricity and finance, as well as minister of state for housing affairs and for al-Awqaf and Islamic affairs.

The new government also includes Abdul Wahab Muhammad al-Qazzan as minister of planning and minister for social affairs and labor; Eid Hazzal Saud al-Rasheidi as minister of public works; Muhammad Abteihan al-Duwihas as minister of planning and minister of state for administrative affairs; Muhammad Ahmad al- Jarulla as minister of health; Sheikh Muhammad Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah as minister of the interior; and Youssef Hamad al-Ibrahim as minister of education and higher education.

Members of the new Kuwaiti government will take their constitutional oath today before Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti nation's council will convene its first session of the first meeting of its ninth legislative course on July 17 in order to give confidence to the new government.

The new government is composed of 15 ministers, including three deputy prime ministers.

Six ministers from the previous government kept their posts in the new government but with a change in certain duties. Nine new ministers joined the new government.

A new government was established, which is the ministry of state for foreign affairs. Several ministries were separated, while others were merged.

Only one parliament member was appointed as a minister in the new government. He is Minister of Public Works Eid Hazzal al-Rasheidi.
