Sudan and the national reconciliation process
Sudan, Politics, 7/14/1999
Sudanese Minister of Culture and Information Ghazi Salah Al-Din has asserted that the government is serious about maintaining national dialogue and is looking forward to future positive developments in this respect.
In a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am published on Tuesday, Salah Al-Din added, "The freedom of movement is the right of every Sudanese citizen," adding that any opposition member from abroad who intends to return to Sudan to practice his political activity in line with the constitution, has the right and full security to do so.
Meanwhile, Sudanese Minister of Justice Ali Muhammad Othman has called on the Sudanese abroad to return to their country in order to take part in the national reconciliation conference and to agree on basics which restored to Sudan its unity and sovereignty.
The Sudanese minister of justice denied the existence of any political prisoners in Sudan.
