Algerian-Moroccan relations are well taken care of by two countries' heads of state
Algeria-Morocco, Politics, 7/13/1999

The Moroccan-Algerian relations are earnestly taken care of by the two countries' heads of state, said Boualam Bessayeh, spokesman of the Algerian delegation to the summit of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), currently held in Algiers.

Relations between Morocco and Algeria are subject of contacts by the highest authorities of the two countries, Bessayeh told the press following the opening of the OAU summit.

He recalled in this regard the visit Moroccan Interior Minister Driss Basri paid to Algeria and "the very warm" messages exchanged between King Hassan II and President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

The Algerian spokesman said bilateral "contacts will be continued and the few coming weeks may bring something new," Bessayeh said, before underlining that Morocco and Algeria "are doomed to warm up their ties."

"Morocco and Algeria respect each other and should cooperate within a spirit of esteem and mutual respect," he said, voicing optimism as to the future of relations between the two neighboring states.
