Yemeni opposition presidential candidate back in Sanaa

Ali Saleh Abad named by Mokbel the secretary of the Yemeni Socialist Party, as the candidate of the Yemeni opposition came back to Sanaa yesterday from London to present his candidacy papers for the Yemeni presidential elections that will be held on September 23.

Mokbel who was treated in London, received the support of five opposition parties which are the Socialist, the Nasserite Unionist Popular Party, the National Socialist Ba'ath Party, the Popular Forces Union Party for the leftist Yemeni Unilateral Assembly and the al-Haq Party.

According to the Yemeni constitution and election law, Mokbel needs the support of at least 10% of members of the deputies council to accept his candidacy.
