Mubarak meets with Sudanese President, Annan

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir held a meeting in the Algerian capital discussing the future of the Egyptian - Sudanese relations and the USA congressional decision against Sudan in considering an Air flight embargo against southern Sudan.

Diplomatic resources in Cairo optimistically described the meeting as the a great step in the way of building the relationship between the Cairo and Khartoum.

Meanwhile, president Mubarak has send a written message to the Sudan president about the results of his visit and meeting with both the American president Bill Clinton and French president Jacques Chirac which also covered the political situation in Sudan and its relation with the United States.

Sudan vice president Ali Osman Mohamed Taha stated that the Sudanese government appreciates the Egyptian president's efforts on this issue which will have a great impact not only in the matter Palestinian rights but also in helping to improve and reinforce, the relationship between all the Arab states.

Taha pointed out that Sudan looks forward to the restoration of Arab rights and hopes that it will be a reason for reuniting the Arab states and their efforts in all fields.

President Mubarak also met with United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, who said after the meeting that he discussed with President Mubarak terrorism and means of combating it, as well as convening an international conference to discuss this case.

He added that they discussed the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Eritrean - Ethiopia, conflict and UN sanctions against Libya.
