UN - Lebanese cooperation highlighted

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud on Sunday in Beirut received the UN undersecretary general, who is also director general of the UN bureau for controlling drugs and combating crime. Talks dealt with joint cooperation between Lebanon and the UN in the area of combating drugs as well as aid which the international organization may provide to the Lebanese government to develop planting areas. The UN delegate told the Lebanese president that the UN decided to give Lebanon US $4 million to help it in supporting alternative plants to drugs.
