Crusaders in Jerusalem
Regional, Culture, 7/12/1999

The British daily Sunday Telegraph said on Sunday that hundreds of European Christians will visit the city of Jerusalem on a mission to apologize for what the Crusaders had done in Jerusalem 900 years ago.

The paper added, "There are so many things that those Christians will apologize for: What the Crusaders had plundered from Jerusalem and their responsibility for the bloodbath which claimed the lives of some 40,000 Muslims."

The paper added that those Christians, whose trip was organized by offices in Heartfordshire, Britain, will next Thursday tour the Islamic areas and apologize to Muslims for what the crusaders had done.

The paper continued that the Crusaders who called their tour an "Apology pilgrimage journey" are Protestants, yet they are not the only ones who feel that an apology is the proper answer for an incident which took place 900 years ago.

The British paper said that Pope John Paul II will issue a document next year that will include an apology for what the Crusaders did.
